Member Features: Coming Soon!

Just a quick little update letting everyone know that there is a feature in the works that will allow members of the site to download exclusive and original resources made by the staff members here.  Progress is very quick as the biggest thing here is just getting everything together in one place, rather than spread out between the forums, this site, my two computers, and all the other contributing member's computers.

Stay tuned, more news to come as we near the launch date!

Forum Beta

The software has been chosen, the styles have been started, the development team is.. still hiring.  Unfortunatly I haven\'t been able to get a full team together yet, so if you\'re interested give me a shout via the contact page or by PM on the forums.

Many features are planned to integrate site with forums as well, since just launching 2 days ago I haven\'t had a whole lot of time to do anything.

Resources & Tweaks

Resources:

I\'ve added some placeholders for what will become tutorials on the Resources page, the three tutorials you see there will be written up shortly but are taking a back seat to certain layout tweaks I\'ve been working on for the past few hours.

Tweaks:

Most notably are is the sidebar, which I re-coded to look better than the previous version.  The main content area got some tweaks as well, to better accomodate those made to the sidebar, and so did all the pages with forms in them.  The new form design looks more cohesive in my opinion.

Just to re-iterate my previous post, I am still looking for beta testers and programmers, but also for an admin position on both the forums and the main site.  If you\'re interested, even if you don\'t think you\'re fully qualified, send me an email and I\'ll let you know where you are best suited.

Now Hiring: Forum Staff

The plan now is to get the software, set it all up (phase 1), have a beta stage where we test the theme and asses the need for plugins and such (phase 2), then launch after about 2 weeks of internal testing (phase 3).

For this project, as it stands right now, I will need the following staff members:

- 1 Administrator to mostly run the forums. My role will be to obviously oversee everything, but I want to focus more on the design/development side of the site and I don\'t want to have to worry about running everything too.

- 5 Beta Testers. You will just test everything during phase 2, but upon launch you will likely be moderators or something.

I\'m looking for quality here, I want people with experience dealing with people on forums and dealing with people in general. In the testing phase I will require people who know what they are talking about, designers and developers, but after that the requirements will be simply previous moderation experience at the very least at 2 other forums. There will be other specific positions available eventually, but right now that\'s all I need. More will be announced as we move through the phases.

Perks:

-Free webhosting if you need it.
-Email account so let the world know you work for viStyle.net.
-Access to a very skilled team of designers and developers for all your issues and problems.
-Potentially paid positions, I\'m considering doing so for the administrator position so the community doesn\'t die when I disappear for a week.

If you are interested, send me your qualifications as well as your:

- Name, first and last please.
- The contacts at the other forums you have experience at, other admins for example.
- Desired position.

If you have a problem disclosing either of the first two you probably won\'t be accepted.  I like to know who I\'m working with, and I like to know they\'re reliable.  If you have any questions, don\'t hesitate to ask.

New client work soon!

I have a tentative job offer from a friend on deviantART to do a skin for a vBulletin forum skin for him, as well as a yet incompleted offer from a friend who asked that I do some logos for him.  For that person, I am still unhappy with the second logo but I am still working at it.

I'd like to take it slow for now, so if the first project I mentioned goes through I'll be unable to take on other projects until it is done.   Feel free to email me with your project, but I won't be able to start on it until further notice.

Forum Software

I\'m looking into purchasing forum software right now but I\'m not sure who to go with.  I could choose one of the many thousands of free forums out there, but I kind of want something more advanced and more secure.  I\'m thinking either vBulletin or IP.Board right now, and the only reason I can\'t decide is because I have a lot of experience on both and they both make excellent forums.  vBulletin is looking more and more attractive, but I don\'t want to totally discount Invision.  What are your thoughts?  Let me know through the contact page.
